Some background: I have used a smartphone for most of the past 3 years. First with Windows Mobile 6.x; which was quite useful for email and texting but the lack of an application repository and polished user experience limited it to an expensive feature phone. After years of enduring various iterations (6.5 was markedly better but still ran into the same limitations as before especially since the hardware was grossly underpowered for what the OS was trying to do) I finally got a used Android phone; the Motorola Backflip. Android is a huge improvement over Windows Mobile, to say the least; with the Android Market, large touchscreen and fully-featured browser, upgrading expanded my mobile capabilities and flexibility in doing things on the go. I was finally able to engage in social networks and tweak my phone to suit my liking, both hugely important to my enjoyment of a phone. However, there was still something missing…
